Safety Studies and Training

Teknica is able to participate in, or manage a HAZOP/HAZAN study whether it is for a complete facility or part of the facility, using experienced engineering personnel to form the team.

HAZOP

Hazard and operability (HAZOP) studies are defined as a formal systematic analysis to examine the process design, engineering and operational intent of a process facility to access the potential hazards associated with the maloperation on incorrect functioning of individual pieces of the process plant and the consequences of this incorrect functioning on the plant as a whole. Having identified this hazard, the effect can be further analysed to quantify the risk to the plant (HAZAN).

HAZOP/HAZAN

Studies can be undertaken at any point in the plant's life. Usually this would be carried out during the design stages. Studies can be carried out on existing facilities where no initial HAZOP/HAZAN was undertaken.

A study is strongly recommended to assess the effects of a modification to an existing plant to ensure that the modification in no way interferes with the original design integrity of the plant.

Services

Teknica will undertake the complete study or can offer initial training to a client's study team The study can be conducted at a client's home site, in the offices of a contractor, in Teknica’s London, England, headquarters or any other suitable location.

Training

In addition to the services described above, Teknica can offer formal training courses in topics such as:

  • Hazard and operability study and its manageability (HAZOP)
  • Introduction to quantitative hazard analysis (HAZAN)
  • Failure mode and effect analysis (FMEA)
  • Loss prevention and safe working practice
  • Site safety assessments
  • Crisis management and response
